Welcome to First Class!

Your son has demonstrated many skills since he has joined the troop.  Achieving this rank is not a 'give me' by any stretch of the imagination.  A high percentage of boys that make it this far, will complete their Eagle Scout.  However it cannot be achieved without your involvement!

It is important that you understand that as your son transitions from Second Class to First Class he will also be shifting in his skills.  As he advances from here on in, the emphasis of each rank will be highlighting Leadership Skills.  In the past, the emphasis has been on basic scouting skills.

It is imperative that this is recognized not just within the Troop, but in your home as well.  Your son will be taking on a leadership role within the Troop.  New responsibilities within the troop will determine significant outcomes.  It would be helpful as your son discusses these new roles with you, that you help him remember some of his new responsibilities, at least while they are new. 

While the goal is to teach these young men the lessons of responsibility and leadership, we would like to see them succeed.  Your help at home will be instrumental to ensuring his success in his new roles within the troop.
